From the United States
The best option is to fly directly to Mexico City.
From there, you can rent a car or hire a Sprinter van to get to Cuernavaca (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes by road).
From San Juan de los Lagos
You can travel in your own car.

You can also fly to Mexico City and travel from there to Cuernavaca.
